CHAMPAGNE JACQUESSON VAUZELLE TERME AY GRAND CRU 2013 AST. CL 75
Vauzelle Terme, 30 ares of Pinot Noir planted in 1980. The soil, highly calcareous and moderately clayey, is mainly formed by alluvial deposits rich in river stones. It rests on a gypseous substrate made of small blocks of gypsum, partly cemented together. The Vauzelle Terme lieu-dit has good water reserves and, being full south-facing, benefits from an ideal exposure.
Grape Variety: 100% Pinot Noir
Denomination: Champagne AOC
Winemaking: the grapes are vinified in both barrels and tonneaux. Only two rackings, one to remove tartaric precipitates and the other for bottling, it goes without saying that filtrations are banned.
Aging: 9 years on lees
Vintage 2013: the winter was very cold with frequent snowfalls, spring and early summer remained cold and humid, causing millerandage and delaying flowering and maturity. August and September were warmer and drier, allowing for a late but very good harvest.
Produced: 2,522 bottles and 155 magnums.
Dosage: 0 g/l.
Organoleptic characteristics: straw yellow with bright gold veins, it shows a nose that expresses finesse and depth with currants and raspberries that then fade towards tropical fruit, then dark citrus, undergrowth, all to arrive at toasted almond and hazelnut notes. A powerful, tense, and juicy taste, it reveals a dry and elegant body adorned with infinite citrus and toasted reminiscences. A continuous, infinite minerality seals it all along the persistence that fades without ever completely ending.
Alcohol content: 12.5%
Serving temperature: 8/10°C
Pairings: deserves adequately flavorful dishes such as a hunter's style amberjack or even a fish soup. Fish, First courses.
