NINO NEGRI FRACIA VALGELLA 2016 DOCG NE300 CL.150
Vigna Fracia 2016 was born in one of the coldest vineyards in the valley, ideal for understanding how aging at altitude can enhance its freshness. Aging at 3000 meters enhances the aromatic purity and vivacity of the wine, revealing new nuances and a deep connection with the mountain that makes each bottle unique.
The numbered magnums have been designed for true connoisseurs: each bottle is dressed with an exclusive bas-relief label that celebrates the Nino Negri 3000 project and is enclosed in an elegant wooden box, for those who want a unique collector's item.
GRAPE VARIETY: Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca)
PRODUCTION AREA: historic Valgella area between 380-500 meters above sea level with a slope of between 55 and 65%. Average age of the vineyard 25 years.
SOIL CHARACTERISTICS: The schist rock is the result of the transformation of rocks at great depths that emerged during the formation of the Alps. In this Vigna the schist is blue and tends to flake very easily. The wide terraces have allowed the deposit of soil composed mainly of sand, gravel and silt. AGING: for several years the wine was aged first in barrels and then in bottles in the Chiuro Cellars at 300 meters above sea level. Subsequently, the bottled wine was transferred to Bormio at high altitude in the Haven 3000 cellar.
ORGANOLEPTIC NOTES: The cold microclimate of the vineyard determines a longer vegetative cycle of the Nebbiolo which expresses itself with a bright ruby color evident even after long aging; the complex aroma with hints of wild berries, rose and violet evolves into hints of Mediterranean spices such as rosemary and lavender. In the mouth the tannins are well structured, dense and rich. The freshness on the nose and in the mouth confirm the perfect evolution of the wine, giving a savory and long finish.
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 13.5%vol
OPTIMAL STORAGE: The wine was bottled only in magnum format. Thanks to the high altitude aging, the wine has evolutionary characteristics that suggest a potential for aging of over twenty years.
In Bormio, the Heaven 3000 refuge hosts the aging of Vigna Fracia. Beyond 3,000 meters, the wine matures immersed in the extreme scenery of the Valtellina Alps, restoring the authenticity and strength of the mountain landscape.
